European Wasps
European Wasps have bright yellow and black stripes, making them easy to spot. They fly straight to and from their nests, which can be found in places like buildings, tree hollows, or underground. European Wasps can sting multiple times and cause harm to humans and pets. They're most active during the warm months, usually after Christmas until Easter. There are other types of wasps, like Mud Daubers, that are a part of the local ecosystem and aren't harmful.
If you have a European Wasp problem at your premises, and have located the nest, contact Council on 8563 8444 to arrange for a contractor site visit. Please note that the nest will need to have been identified before the contractor can be called.
Just a heads up, if a professional contractor comes to your home to check on the wasps and it turns out they're not European Wasps, you might have to pay a fee.
