Santos Tour Down Under
Santos Tour Down Under (TDU) brings UCI WorldTour professional cycling teams, both men and women, to race in South Australia every January.
TDU will return in 2024 to the beautiful Barossa for the Ziptrak Men’s Stage 1: Tanunda to Tanunda and the Men's Stage 3: Tea Tree Gully to Campbelltown.
Tanunda will again host the start and finish of the Ziptrak Men’s Stage 1: Tanunda to Tanunda on Tuesday, 16 January 2024, with cyclists riding over 144 kilometres through Nuriootpa, Angaston, Bethany and Greenock. Head down to our Barossa Loop de Loop event and feel the rush as the men storm home.
The 145.3-kilometre Men's Stage 3: Tea Tree Gully to Campbelltown held Thursday, 18 January 2024, will feature plenty of Barossa action with cyclists passing through Lyndoch, Williamstown and Sandy Creek.
How to get involved
Are you a local business or community group looking to get involved in the TDU celebrations? There are a range of activities you can get involved in on the day (with some great prizes to be won)!
Santos Best Dressed Town Competition
If you are on the Stage 1 or Stage 3 race route, we encourage your town or business to get involved and participate in the Santos Best Dressed Town Competition. There are incredible prizes to be won!
The competition is a great way for our local communities to get involved and bring colour and vibrancy to the race. Your efforts do not go unnoticed by the professional cycling team who love the support and the atmosphere as they ride through our region. Bring colour, vibrancy and your town pride to the race. Be creative and come up with a theme, it doesn’t have to be bikes!
There are 3 competition categories:
- Santos Best Dressed Town
- Santos Best Dressed Private Property
- Santos Best Dressed Commercial or Community Property
Registrations are now open! Nominate your town, property or community/business venue by completing the 2024 Santos Best Dressed Town Nomination Form.
Stage 1: Plan an associated event
The Barossa Council are proud to be hosting the Santos Tour Down Under, Men's Stage 1: Tanunda to Tanunda race route. One of the benefits of hosting the start and finish is the opportunity for local businesses on the race route to be involved as an associated event.
The Tour Down Under Associated Event program is run by South Australian Tourism Commission (SATC) and is an umbrella collection of independently hosted events and activations that form part of the broader Santos Tour Down Under Festival program. If your event is selected, you will receive a range of benefits and promotional opportunities.
SATC encourage businesses at start and finish locations, as well as along the race routes to get involved and showcase their event, venue and products to those wanting to enjoy a little bit more of our region. This might simply be an activation, such as a Santos Tour Down Under themed donut or a venue event, like an organised lunch to watch the peloton pass.
So that we can assist you in promoting your event please let us know about your activation by contacting us on 08 8563 8444. Applications for the Associated Event program are now open.
Online and printed programs
There will be an online program and printed program lift out. If you want to be included in this, please complete your All-In-One Arts Event Management System - Eventotron by Friday 29 September.
