Community health
We are committed to maintaining the health of the community from the development of a coordinated strategic health plan to the provision of practical services to the community.
Communicable diseases
Under the Public Health Act 2011 we are responsible for investigating occurrences of infectious or notifiable disease reported by SA Health. Information obtained through such investigations is treated confidentially and reported to SA Health.
Immunisation
Council provides free immunisation in secondary schools within the area in line with National Immunisation Program Schedule.
For further information on immunisations contact the Barossa General Practice Network on 8562 1900.
Public Health and Wellbeing Plan
Barossa, Light and Lower Northern Regional
Following extensive collaboration and community engagement, a coordinated Regional Public Health Plan has been developed for The Barossa Council, Town of Gawler, Adelaide Plains Council, and Light Regional Council areas.
The regional approach has enabled all Councils to collectively identify how they are already contributing to public health and where there are ‘gaps’ that need to be addressed.
