We have made a commitment to achieving equitable access and inclusion for everyone through the development of our Disability Access and Inclusion Action Plan. The plan is an integrated approach, which will guide us in making ‘mainstream’ facilities and services accessible to all people living with a disability.
The Disability Access and Inclusion Action Plan is guided by the Disability Access and Inclusion Advisory Group of which the members include people with a disability, carers of people with disability, disability service providers, and Council officers.
We have also collaborated with the Town of Gawler, Light Regional Council, and Adelaide Plains Council to develop the Barossa, Light and Lower North Regional Disability Access and Inclusion Plan (DAIP), which aims to improve access for all to Council services and facilities and to increase the opportunities for people living with disability that live, work, play, volunteer and visit the region.
To further support accessibility and inclusion, Council offers wheelchair accessible vehicles for hire.
