Seniors Collaborative Action Project (SCAP)
The Seniors Collaborative Action Project (SCAP) is a Commonwealth funded initiative operating in the region, specifically for areas of The Barossa Council, Town of Gawler, Light Regional Council, and Adelaide Plains Council.
SCAP is 1 of 12 Collaborative Projects funded by the state that provides ‘sector support and development’ through the establishment of a regional structure. SCAP actively engages with services supporting the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) target group, being frail older people aged 65yrs and over and frail ATSI people aged 50yrs and over, and their carers.
Objectives of SCAP
- engage with CHSP grant recipients and consumers, along with other aged care stakeholders, to build the capacity of the aged care sector to implement new reforms
- establish and maintain collaborative partnerships and projects between CHSP grant recipients, the Department, and other aged care stakeholders
- support the sector to implement the CHSP and other aged care reforms, and to provide feedback to and from the Commonwealth
- support CHSP providers to deliver quality services that are responsive to client needs, including special needs groups.
The SCAP is auspiced by The Barossa Council and managed by an Executive Committee, the Gawler Region Aged Care Network, and the Consumer Engagement Working Group. SCAP Executive Committee can be found in the Seniors Collaborative Action Project Terms of Reference.
