Funding for conservation14 Oct. 2022
The Tanunda Pine site on the corner of Menge & Magnolia Roads (north-west of The Rex) has received additional funding from the Revitalising Private Conservation in South Australia (RPCSA) grant.
This site is one of seven Trees for Life (TFL) Bush for Life sites that receives on ground support from a TFL Project Coordinator and volunteers throughout the year.
Whilst this work is valued and is making a difference in the core areas of the site, there is plenty of work to be done to reduce the threats across the whole site to further protect and enhance the native species.
The grant funding will enable additional targeted and specialised exotic grass control, a flora survey and a ‘Come and Try Bushcare’ event in October, 2022.
There will be opportunities for locals to go on a bird watching and guided nature walk as well as have a go at doing some bushcare across the site.
The aim will be to recruit some new volunteers who are interested in contributing some time to help preserve this special place. The flora survey uncovered some real beauties, and we want to showcase this to our community in the hope that it inspires people to get involved.
Each site, regardless of its size, is important and the Tanunda Pine site is habitat for a number of woodland birds and unique plants.
