More carparking in Tanunda town centre
18 Oct. 2021Locals and visitors will have access to additional car parking adjacent Barossa Visitor Centre (BVC) in Tanunda courtesy of a $420,000 upgrade.
The sealed carpark will feature more than 50 parking bays, including disabled carparking and dedicated bus, caravan, and motorcycle bays.
The Barossa Council project provides wheelchair access to the Barossa Cycle Hub and BVC, plus carpark lighting for improved safety.
Street trees and irrigation will be installed next winter to enhance amenity and create a cooling effect in summer.
Mayor Bim Lange described the upgrade as “crucial” for Tanunda’s busy retail and commercial precinct.
We know carparking in Tanunda is at a premium, so this is a long-awaited project that will deliver high-quality, accessible carparking in the heart of the town centre.
“Capacity for larger vehicles is especially welcome with so many people taking to the road in caravans and campers.”
Two sugar gums that pose a risk to the community will be removed and replaced as part of the regreening.
Signage will be in place during construction to direct traffic to alternate locations.
