Make money, save money with Garage Sale Trail 2020

16 Sep. 2020

We are pleased to once again be part of Australia’s biggest community and sustainability event, Garage Sale Trail, this year on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 November.

The multi-award-winning event is part of The Barossa Council’s commitment to reducing landfill and supporting residents to reuse and reduce waste at home.

The program is powered by over 115 councils across Australia, dedicated to helping their communities on the road to economic recovery by making and saving money through the sale of second-hand goods. Plus, for the first time ever sellers can also set up virtual garage sales as an alternative to garage sales in their local towns.

“Garage Sale Trail is a great opportunity for people to connect with their community, have fun and make some extra money. We are thrilled to be involved with the initiative and encourage everyone in the community to register – it is an excellent way to declutter and rehome items you no longer need or use in a sustainable way.”

– Mayor Bim Lange

Last year saw 94 stalls in the Council area with an estimated 15,282 kilograms of items being reused locally – of which 31% would have likely otherwise ended up in landfill.

“We hope with the added option to sell online this year that even more community members will get on board either through hosting a sale or shopping the Trail,” said Mayor Lange

You can rest assured that Garage Sale Trail events will be supported to ensure COVID-19 safe practices and precautions are in place. As a seller you will also receive tips and tricks, as well as marketing material to help you achieve the best results.

To host a sale or shop the Trail register for free.
