Selection process

The Barossa Council runs a best practice recruitment model to ensure each role is recruited on merit and is centred on the candidate’s experience. It is our vision that each person working here aligns not only to the technical requirements of the role but also to Council’s values and constructive culture. The full selection process occurs in stages which includes application assessment, phone interview, an in-person interview and reference checks.

Applicants selected for an interview will be contacted by Human Resources after the closing date. Applicants not selected for an interview will be notified in writing as soon as possible. Interviews are generally conducted by a panel of three to four. During the interview, applicants will be asked behavioural and competency-based questions and will be provided with an opportunity to ask questions of the panel.

Additional requirements

After the interview, reference checks will be undertaken on the final preferred candidates. Additional requirements may also include obtaining a national police check, psychometric testing etc.

Offer of employment

An offer of employment will be verbally made to the successful applicant, this is followed by a written offer soon thereafter.

Pre-employment medical

All employees of The Barossa Council are required to undertake a pre-employment medical assessment.

All applicants must have legal rights to work within Australia.
