Access to information
Many of our documents are made available for public viewing. Documents can be viewed online or in person at Council’s Nuriootpa office. We publish an annual Freedom of Information Statement that lists publicly available documents, this can also be found in our Annual Report.
If a document is not publically available, you have the right to request access (subject to restrictions) under the Freedom of Information Act 1991 by making a Freedom of Information Application.
Under the Freedom of Information Act 1991, you can also request the amendment of documents which contain personal information that is incomplete, incorrect, out of date or misleading.
More information about making a Freedom of Information Application is available via State Records.
If you are seeking information about a building development that was assessed by Council under the Development Act 1993 (eg: plans, drawings, certificates for buildings only) or access to local Barossa history records, genealogy or maps and plans of historic properties a Freedom of Information Application may not be required.
Application to access these types of records is free. Apply via the Access to Council Records form.
