The project will see the reconstruction of 600m of road along an important part of the Barossa Freight Route. It will make the road fit-for-purpose to accommodate a mix of heavy vehicles, cars, bicycles and pedestrians.
The project includes reconstruction of the road pavement; drainage infrastructure to address water pooling; and widening of wings at the intersection of Basedow Road and Menge Road.
The $1.46 million project is jointly funded by Council and the Special Local Roads Program.
Due to the wet weather experienced throughout June and July, coupled with the July COVID lockdown period, the project is currently behind schedule and is expected to be complete by late October, subject to favourable weather conditions.
Contractors are liaising with individual residents that may be directly affected by the works to minimise any inconvenience.
