Cosmetic and beauty services
The South Australian Public Health Act 2001 requires that hairdressing, body piercing and tattooing activities are carried out safety and hygienically to reduce risk of infection or the transmission of a communicable disease.
Council has a duty of care to ensure commercial hairdressing and skin penetration premises comply with the Act, SA Health Guideline on the Public Health Standards of Practice for Hairdressing and Guidelines on the Safe and Hygienic Practice of Skin Penetration.
Businesses undertaking these activities are required to complete a hairdressing, beauty and skin penetration notification form.
