This plays a major role in sustaining the local, state and national economies with over 300 food businesses within the Council area including restaurants, takeaways, delis, green grocers, wineries, markets, cafes, bakeries, sporting clubs, childcare centres and many more.
Food health and safety
Council’s Environmental Health Officers routinely inspect all food premises to ensure compliance and any complaints regarding food premises, food handling and food poisoning are investigated by the Health Services team.
Mobile Food Vendors, better known as food trucks, are welcome in The Barossa Council region where food or beverage is the primary product being provided and a permit has been obtained.
Free online food safety training
We assist food businesses within the area to meet their obligations by providing free access to the imalert online training tool to develop food-handling skills and knowledge. Training acknowledgement is provided.
