- Features
The Barossa Bushgardens are situated on a 7-hectare site and showcases approximately 130 out of 400 local Barossa plant species. They contain display gardens, such as the Dementia Friendly Garden, the Fire-Wise Garden, and the Eremophila Garden. There is also a nature play area for children and a 13-metre labyrinth that supports mental health and wellbeing.
The site is managed by the Barossa Bushgardens Committee with the support of volunteers and two staff members. The committee maintains a Strategic Plan and Urban Design Framework (Master Plan). This work is undertaken to ensure a coordinated and planned approach to any further works and/or development on the site.
The gardens offer several spaces to enjoy a relaxing day out, including nature walks, sighting the beautiful flowers, watching out for native animals, feeling and smelling plants in the Sensory Garden, and having a picnic.
The paths are wheelchair accessible and bike-friendly, and dogs on a leash are welcome.
There is a water fountain next to The Old Gum Tree for visitors and their four-legged friends, as well as a toilet block and change table for babies next to the Volunteer Centre.
