Local Community Members or Agencies seeking assistance for Heatwave Relief can contact the council on 08 8563 8444 (24 hour number) The Barossa Council will maintain an up to date list of centres available.

Operating times? Normally 9.00 to 5.00

Why? To provide air conditioned relief from the heat

Who should I tell? Inform relatives and friends (who may look for you) where you are going.

What to Bring? Your own medications. Contact numbers for relatives or next of kin. Walking frame etc. A book or magazines. Please do not bring pets (other arrangements will need to be made for these).

Do you have a Carer? Persons requiring personal care will need to bring their carer with them.

Transport? If transport is required to assist clients/residents to access a centre please contact Community Transport on 8563 8444 or 8563 8411.

 

Agencies/Case Manager actions

  1. Keep a check on vulnerable people listed with your agency during heatwave conditions.
  2. If they require relief contact the nearest centre. (If unable to transport clients to the centre, contact Community Transport on 8563 8444 or 8563 8411.
  3. Forward client details and centre client is attending to Barossa Home Assist 8563 8411. A list of people attending relief centres will be collated. (Agencies that cannot contact clients could then ascertain if clients has been relocated to a centre before calling emergency services etc.)
