Cycling fans, in particular the next generation, will have even more opportunities to be involved the 2018 Santos Tour Down Under.
In yet another coup for the region, the Barossa will host the first ever regional Bupa mini tour for kids in Lyndoch on Tuesday, January 16 where cycling stars of the future (aged 6-12) will be able to ride laps of the Stage 1 finish line circuit before the pros arrive in Lyndoch.
“The Bupa mini tour for kids is a great opportunity to involve local young people in the Santos Tour Down Under in a fun and engaging way, and give families another reason to join in the Tour festivities,” said Mayor Bob Sloane.
“It perfectly complements the Southern Barossa Alliance’s plans for the Wheels on the Green event the night before, which will be a great community event with lots of family attractions and activities.
“For visitors, the Bupa mini tour for kids is another reason to visit the Southern Barossa and enjoy our warm hospitality and world class cycling in a premium food and wine region.”
For $30 ($25 for Bupa members) riders will be kitted out with an official t-shirt and rider number, and have the opportunity to ride a snippet of the official race route, just like the professionals. They will also receive refreshments, a gift bag and the chance to meet their cycling superheroes at the event launch.
