The Barossa Council, in partnership with TafeSA Regional, is offering a food safety training session on 21 April 2016. Details can be downloaded here
The course is interactive and fun with previous participants providing excellent feedback about the course.
The Food Standards Code of Australia requires people undertaking food handling as part of their business to have appropriate knowledge in food safety and food hygiene matters. This requirement extends to individuals who work within industries where food is also supplied, such as kindergartens and aged care facilities, and to people who undertake fundraising activities such as sausage sizzles.
While formal training is not mandatory, TafeSA and several regional councils recognise that many food handlers would appreciate an accredited short course.
The courses will assist food handlers in developing the required skills and knowledge to ensure that food is handled in a safe and hygienic manner.
The training session will be held at the Nuriootpa Council Office from 3-6.30pm.
