A ten year vision finally became a reality when Barossa Mayor Bob Sloane officially opened the newly constructed Barossa Men’s Shed in Tanunda.
The project was made possible through the commitment and enthusiasm of the Rotary Club of Barossa Valley with the support of Council and a range of stakeholders.
Many businesses and individuals also provided financial assistance, donations or goods and services at reduced cost.
“This is a great example of community partnerships at work – a great collaborative effort between Rotary, Council and the wider community,” said Mr Sloane.
He said the local Men’s Shed has many benefits as a hub for socialisation, friendship, skills development, education and mentoring.
“We hope this move to Tanunda will allow for an increase in membership and attract residents who live in the Southern Barossa area, leading to even greater social cohesion in our community,” Mr Sloane said.
Barossa Men’s Shed has around 70 members who access Men’s Shed and Veterans programs totalling 12,500 hours of client services each year.
The new shed is located at 6 Ash Street.
