Planning Minister John Rau has approved the Lyndoch Residential Development Plan Amendment (DPA).
The DPA rezones a small growth area designated in the 30 Year Plan for Greater Adelaide for housing development.
Mayor Bob Sloane said following community consultation, Council presented Minister John Rau with a development concept that aligned with the 30 Year Plan but also acknowledged its rural character and proximity to existing lower density residential areas.
“The Minister has supported Council’s approach in respect to buffers adjacent God’s Hill Road and primary production land to the south,” said Mr Sloane.
“He has also excluded the rezoned land from the residential code, which means Council can utilise better planning controls as part of the development approval process.
“This is a compromise position and Council will now seek to work with the developer to achieve a development outcome that balances community needs with demand for housing growth.”
