We wish to advise Para Wirra Road, Williamstown will be closed to traffic from 23 October to 27 October (inclusive).
Council's civil contractor will be undertaking asphalt works to address the road surface, following the road sealing in May.
Director Works and Engineering, Matt Elding said the scheduled work will address the most urgent issues regarding the road surface, and acknowledges this is the first of several planned interventions.
“Under the contract remedial work will be undertaken, in conjunction with additional drainage works that have been identified,” Mr Elding said.
“We will continue to monitor the road condition and quality to see if further treatments are required. We acknowledge that although the project was not completed to expected standars, it does provide a much higher level of service than before and has reduced the risks that come with unsealed roads. It has also significantly reduced travel times, particularly at peak commute times.”
Mr Elding said the project had paved the way for process improvements within Council.
“This project has highlighted improvements we can make in our contract processes to not only meet expected standards of service but also community expectations,” he said.
Para Road is an important Southern Barossa connector to northern Adelaide and received Council, Black Spot and Special Local Roads funding.
