A broad regional approach to public health and wellbeing has resulted in the launch of the Barossa, Light and Lower North Regional Public Health and Wellbeing Plan.
The plan, the first of its kind for regional South Australia, is the result of extensive collaboration and community engagement between the Barossa, Gawler, Mallala and Light Regional Councils.
Outlining priorities and targets for public health into the future, the plan provides a coordinated approach to the health of all communities in the region.
The four Councils worked closely with Regional Development Australia Barossa, to collaboratively develop the plan, which included each of the member Councils identifying their part in public health across the region with the view of providing maximum benefit to the community.
This regional approach has enabled all Councils to collectively identify how they are already contributing to public health and to identify public health gaps that they can influence and work towards addressing.
Adelaide business, Healthy Environs is assisting the member Council’s to facilitate an engagement process with partner organisations to deliver strategies identified in the plan.
