Council has been recognised for its support of safe cycling with a State award from the Motor Accident Commission (MAC).
The Safe Cycling Award recognises how infrastructure development such as theBarossa Cycle Hub and community engagement initiatives have signifi cantly improved and encouraged cycling in the region.
Along with the award and state-wide recognition for being a cycle safe region, MAC also provided Council with a $2000 grant which will be reinvested into cycling activity.
Initiatives by Council include signing up 30 bike friendly businesses and four bike friendly workplaces across the region, as well as hosting education workshops at the Cycle Hub.
The award reinforces Council's efforts to have the Barossa recognised as a cycle friendly destination and comes on the back of several state and national cycling accolades.
