Nuriootpa (Sturt Highway Service Centre) Development Plan Amendment
Council recently consulted on changes that would pave the way for a new highway service centre on the outskirts of Nuriootpa.
The Development Plan Amendment (DPA) was spearheaded by a developer seeking to establish a centre comprising a petrol station, restaurant, convenience store, parking, playground and public amenities on the corner of Sturt Highway and Belvidere Road. It introduces a policy area where this kind of development is acceptable in this location.
23 public submissions were received together with comments from 10 agencies.
Council has appointed a Nuriootpa (Sturt Highway Service Centre) DPA Committee comprising all elected members to consider the submissions received on the DPA and to provide advice to Council or its Strategic Planning and Development Policy Committee in respect to the submissions. Council or the Strategic Planning and Development Policy Committee will then decide on what changes to the DPA it considers are necessary prior to submitting the final DPA to the Minister for Planning for approval. Alternatively it may be determined that following consideration of submissions that it be recommended to the Minister that the DPA not be proceeded with.
All submittors will be notified prior to the relevant Council or Strategic Planning and Development Policy Committee meeting.
