The Barossa community can enjoy a host of activities to celebrate the 2019 Santos Tour Down Under.
Angaston will host the Stage 2 finish on 16 January, with Race Director Mike Turtur describing a course to test the riders and create a spectacle for fans.
The town will come alive with the Wheels & Wine community event from 12noon to 4pm, featuring a gourmet picnic trail and family-friendly entertainment in the town centre ahead of a thrilling race to the finish line.
The event is proudly presented by Angaston Community and Business Alliance (ACBA) in conjunction with The Barossa Council.
On Friday, 11 January the Santos Women’s Tour will race across the Barossa from Nuriootpa to Mengler Hill.
People can get into the spirit of the race with a free early morning Fitness Event at Memorial Park in Angaston, featuring bootcamp, strength and agility and stretching sessions, hours before the women’s race arrives.
“This stage will feature two sprints, both in Angaston which we expect to be hotly contested, but the real test for the riders will be the gruelling climb to the finish up Mengler Hill,” said Santos Women’s Tour Down Under Race Director Kimberley Conte.
Barossa Mayor Bim Lange encouraged the community to embrace two exciting days of racing action and a vibrant community atmosphere.
“Angaston Community and Business Alliance is hosting some terrific entertainment which promises something for everyone, from families to food and wine lovers,” Mayor Lange said.
“It’s also an opportunity to see international racing at its best.”
The 2019 Santos Tour Down Under will be held 10-20 January 2019 starting with Stage 1 of the Santos Women’s Tour Down Under on Thursday 10 January. #TourDownUnder
